Nassau County uses different custodians for police, jail, court, and state criminal-history records:

- NCPD arrest and incident reports: use the department's electronic FOIL form for Police records and retain the request reference number
- Personal fingerprint-based rap sheet: New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services Personal Record Review through IdentoGO
- Final outcome or record sealing: contact the clerk of the court that heard the case and request the proper disposition or filing instructions
The sheriff and courts are not interchangeable. The Sheriff's Department address above is the researched contact for jail and custody material. Court papers come from the clerk in Mineola, Hempstead, Long Beach, Glen Cove, or the town or village court that owns the case. Current hours and phone routing should be checked on the official office page before a visit.
